A chapter of the The Gesneriad Society, Inc.
Liberty Bell Gesneriad Society is the Philadelphia area chapter of the Gesneriad Society for those who enjoy plants in the family Gesneriaceae The family contains over 3,400 species of plants. Perhaps the best-known member of the gesneriad family is the African violet (Saintpaulia). Liberty Bell Gesneriad Society members grow many types of gesneriads, a plant family that includes Aeschynanthus, Chirita, Episcia, Kohleria, Nematanthus, Saintpaulia (African Violet), Sinningia, Streptocarpus and other genera.
We warmly welcome anyone interested in this diverse group of plants.
Members and guests gather at 7:00 for socializing, refreshments and set up. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM. We meet the third Tuesday of each month (except July and August). They are held at Cathedral Village Retirement Community, 600 East Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA - 19128
Cathedral VIllage is located in the Andorra section of Roxborough, diagonally across from the Andorra Shopping Center where Ridge and Henry Avenues merge at Cathedral Road. Members may park on the church side of the driveway before the entrance or anywhere in the rear parking lots after the drop-off zone.
